mission

Curam exists to provide creative spaces for healing to emerge through accessible, anti-oppressive, & trauma informed practices. Transparency and choice are central to the work. Curam aims to abolish implicit hierarchies present in many “healing” professions by offering practices to support you in reconnecting to your innate ability to heal, working with you rather than above you. The work is about curiosity and reflection, supporting you in a process of remembering.

In recognition of the harmful systems in which we live, an essential part of healing involves actively employing an anti-oppressive lens that refuses to pathologize. Curam acknowledges this requires continued reflection on roles and vulnerabilities in therapeutic relationships, aiming to create a practice that affirms people of all identities.

Through carefully selected practices, Curam is grounded in honoring one’s whole human-ness. We acknowledge multiplicities present in the human experience. Our work is integrative, drawing upon a variety of methods to provide you with tools for self-empowerment. Curam supports those ready to weave together the pragmatism and joy of reclaiming responsibility for creating change within one’s life to enable the emergence of a healthy, collaborative, creative community.

method

All offerings are holistic, considering your larger context - how your history, community, family, socio-political systems, and culture - interact with your multiple, intersecting identities. From this consideration, our work aims to be anti-oppressive and decolonial. Addressing harm within systems, we offer practices to support you in liberation from out-dated, conditioned patterning.

Offerings integrate tools from art therapy, mindfulness studies, somatic psychotherapy, and climate justice work to respond to your unique needs. Anchored in years of academic training and clinical mental health work, we provide spaces for creativity, education, resourcing, and community to emerge. Individual and group offerings focus on therapeutic relationships as a vehicle towards increasing self-awareness and healing through connection.

Through a trauma-informed lens; safety, choice and collaboration are prioritized in the work together. Exploring creative strategies allows for illumination of your inherent health. Offerings focus on creating a container through breathwork, grounding practices, and neurological wisdom.

why curam?

Cúram is an Old Irish word translating to care, solicitude, and responsibility. We hold these values as integral to our work. Through a decolonial, anti-racist lens, we are devoted to our ancestry - leading us to the wisdom of the Irish spiritual tradition.
